Sunday: Got in about 4 hours of EQ. Still hung out at the Najena line and am only a couple bubs from 16. I realized that I have CRAP from equipment and only ~50 plat to my name. What do people do to really bring in the plat?!?!

Here's a couple ways:
1) North Karana: Farm Willowisps and Grizzly Bears. Sell regular lightstones for about 9 gold each, give Greater lightstones to one of the gypsies at the NK gypsy camp (I believe she's the southernmost gypsy, i.e. the direction of the spires or the guard tower - hail her, she'll provide some kind of dialogue which indicates she's the right one) - she gives you a concordance of research - you sell the concordance for about 9 plat 5 gold. You can usually sell the Grizzly Bear Skins (not "thick grizzly bear skin", just "grizzly bear skin") for about 20-25 plat to tailors. It's one of the components in
this. You can also sell any HQ bear skins you pick up for 10 plat (I usually pay 15 because I'm a greedy tailor). They're used in Handmade Backpacks.
Plus, there's a ton of stuff around 12-17 you can hunt for exp while you do that...
2) At 16, my necro was strong enough to fear kite Saben Tucross in lfay. I did that until 19 (she was still red) and instead went to kill the millers in Qeynos Hills for better exp. Saben drops a plat or so every kill and occasionally drops fine steel. Killing her will turf your gnome factions (if your a dark elf, who cares). She's 22/23ish, so it may be a really tough fight for a mage. She is a 6 minute respawn, so your pet should have time to regen and you should have time to med. It might be one of those fights where you DS up your earth pet, and chain nuke the garbage out of her while hoping root sticks. There's a zone line nearby, so if you're quick with your jumps and aren't bullheaded, you can probably get away if things go sour. She does hit hard, though..
3) If you care not for your bard factions, you can camp Misty Storyswapper in Qeynos hills. She probably drops bronze weapons, given her level and the fact she's not a typical mob... There's also wisps that run around..just beware of pathing Qeynos guards. They don't like dark elves.
