All quests in P99 that require Gold in the text, require Gold as the turnin reward.
An equivalent amount of platinum does not work. That was patched some time in like 2002~? I don't know the exact date.
So yea, you'll be encumbered from your port to CS to the Othmir camp. Get a SoW and a druid port from bank. It's super classic. But get your CS Tooth first
