Don't go off the deep end. People got fuck tons of loot in Nihilum, anything they wanted. DKP was transparent man, nobody was getting crowns of rile and shit for RMT and nobody cared about the rest of it. The RMT'd loot was crap nobody wanted when it dropped and nobody wanted to buy for alts. Nihilum also never refused a member. Nothing rotted that people needed, ever. Epic pieces were typically looted by senior members and MQ to people when they completed the application process (sometimes not even that long). Droppable items went to the guild bank over apps in most cases, but the app process took all of like 2 weeks for an active player and if you can't commit to a guild that long you don't deserve jack shit.
There really wasn't much of a regard for anyone not in Nihilum though, I will give you that. 4x the price on items was just to sell to desperate buyers, the rate to buy it in guild was super cheap.
Nihilum may have been bad for the server but it isn't because of anything you said. There was 0 effort put into growing the population, getting people to come play, helping out low level players, etc. It was basically, if you want our help then join us otherwise fuck off. But if you joined, you were helped plenty and nobody was turned away.
Don't revise history dude, you have plenty of shit to call out Nihilum on but stop pretending you had to buy your items via RMT or it was some sort of elitist group giving only loot to their pals.
The chart that was posted showing server population shows a big spike the week after Nihilum was disbanded, long before Holo was the guild it is now. Holo has done a good job maintaining the momentum and slowly pushing the population upwards instead of being douchebags and letting the server regress and I give them a lot of credit for that.

I'm not revising history I'm accurately portraying it, I'm sorry there is a huge disparity between your memory and facts.
I never said Nihilum needed to buy items via RMT allot of people geared up through Nihilum. But Nihilum was never dedicated to bolstering server population there goals were purely selfishly motivated.
Nihilums bank looked like an episode of hoarders while holocaust bank looks like an episode of pawn stars, stuff comes in and goes out just as fast.
Nihilum did refuse many members publicly going so far as to post their apps on the forums, Holocaust doesn't have an applicant process.
Nihilums leader loved nothing more than to post his success and gloat over the guilds with less, I can't even find a recent post by Gongshow.
Nihilum let items rot to teach guild members a lesson about participation. Our officers are honestly distraught when an item rots and ask 20 times in guild desperately before the timer is up.
The two guilds are honestly like night and day, and i think anyone with a reason and rationale can see why Holocaust is directly responsible for the servers current momentum. We've even made the GM's believe in Red again, which is quite frankly amazing.
