A prefect example of an anarchocapitalistic economy. There's a few groups of people that have assumed the role of protection providers, and they are peaceably working out their differences and scope of territory. (just like in David D Freidman's example)
I'm sure as the differing groups work out their differences Somolia will come to be an economic powerhouse, and ideal model for countries in the future.
IMO, David D Freidman's Utopian ideal fails as the human element is added. I would love to believe in the inherent goodness of human beings, but I've been dealing with us for too many years. We are, in general, selfish, petty and lazy. We are always angling for maximum profit for the minimum effort, oh, and fuckall anybody else who gets in the way. Until us humans figure out how to overcome our natural tendencies, the Utopian ideals of pure capitalism, socialism, communism, anarchocapitalism, choose your political concept (or lack thereof), will fall short.
