So really for melees the paladin epic is the only one that will be replaced fairly quickly into the xpac.

Paladin epic held up surprisingly well until the 2h revamp if memory serves.
Presumably there was a pretty big 1h vs. 2h gap to warrant the revamp though? I'm not sure how shield AC worked during Velious.
