I was talking on IRC about
this issue today and I was wondering how universal it is. I know a ton of people have the issue but it appears that not everyone does; if you don't have the issue, please give a short description of how you're running EQ, what your OS is, whether you're using multiple processors, and that kind of thing. Obviously the most desirable description is if you used to have the issue and no longer do.
The issue is basically that you'll be doing something in-game and then your client will close without provocation. If you're logging the in-game text to a file, you'll see a string not found error at the very end before the crash. This happens to me (and I think everyone who has it) intermittently - sometimes it'll happen twice a day, sometimes not for a couple of weeks - but it can be deadly and GMs are not supposed to rez for it (since learning this I'm no longer gonna /petition when it happens), though GMs sometimes have been nice enough to rez me for it (thanks, bro). I've tried a lot of things to fix it so far and have had no luck; I'm just trying to get a handle on how widespread the problem is.
