Chances are he was "given" a baby Aegon by Varys or Illirio and didn't see the rescue on his own.

My Theory is the "Pisswater Prince" Theory is reversed.

I think Baby Aegon is dead and Young Griff is actually just some low born kid that Varys picked up for a jug of ale and he is being groomed to be a pretender with out his or Jon conningtons knowledge.

Basically take what the established story is about baby swapping and such and reverse it.

Again, I feel that if it was true and he was Aegon then I doubt he would be cut out of the show because it's an obvious real deal.

He's either Low Born or a Blackfyre either way I doubt he will accomplish much.
