You can't make something go viral. Whether or not something becomes viral/memetic is not up to its creator or the progenitor of whatever news story or the taker of whatever weird picture of a dress. What news agencies do, however, in the immediate wake of the meme can and certainly does generate a great deal of ad revenue, and that's exactly what capitalistic journalism has become.

And this is why Gamergate is especially egregious - not just for being a deplorable, sopping garbage sack of cumstained, socially degenerated halfwits who literally think harassing, threatening to kill and rape women, and generally just being intellectually stunted malicious little shits falls under the purview of journalistic integrity. Not just for that, but because there actually are real issues in journalism right now, and they don't stem from the fucking video game industry or from Anita Sarkeesian/Feminist Frequency.

This is just a boring distraction. I'd be all for a distraction if it actually raised some interesting points about something, but this is just an absolute waste of time and I have nothing but contempt for anyone who continues the Gamergate conversation. Women are being doxxed and harassed and threatened with violence and murder - the conversation is over. I won't listen to another word of that tune, and anyone in their right mind should know better as well.
