Yes. If at all possible literally beg someone for bone chips till like 10, and your life will be so much better. Those super low levels are no fun for any class, but out of the classes I have played at low levels, it's the worst on enchanter. The dark elf racial is nice, but not dependable. In the short run you will do better with a high elf ( which is much better looking that a erudite ) or an erudite. But if you go really far, once you get equipped with BiS in like 2 years, the starting stats don't matter and you will get GGR eventually and hide wont matter. So there are pros and cons to DE. I don't find it worth it for the most part, but everyone is different.
