I played blue recently till 21 and then stopped. Problems:
1. Most people are quite twinked. They prefer you to be geared especially if a tank.
2. There's a bunch of plvl'ing going on, which is not only disheartening but it clears entire xp zones.
3. Many xp places I went were camped. I saw a twinked warrior holding down spots solo in uguk.
4. WTB prices are too expensive even though I had accumulated 1k pp.

Endgame problems I heard of:
1. Every spot with high-value loot is perma-camped, with a waiting list.
2. Several guilds rotate boss mobs. So you have to wait 3(5?) x 5(7+) days for a particular boss.
3. Boss mobs die within minutes of spawning to zerg raids.

So I rolled red this weekend.
1. Blue had 1,700 people; red under 170.
2. The xp comes so fast you have even bigger problems purchasing your spells. This should be solved once I hit the lfay sisters camp. I've heard its perma-solved once you level high enough to farm giants or seafuries.
3. Its not easy to get a port or a bind.
4. /ooc is server wide, and used for auctions. Someone has to port to trade, there is no EC tunnel. Funny enough this made my experience closer to that of the first months of EQ.
5. I may end up having to roll a druid to trade or port a cleric for a rez.

I've heard there isn't much ganking at low-med levels. I assume its done by bored high levels.

A static group is a great asset on red, as the /ooc suggests it takes a while to form a group. I wouldn't be surprised if a decent sized static group could hit 60 within 1.5 months. That would not be possible on blue without plvl'ing.

I prefer red.
