If they ever manage to restrict to one chat box, the uproar from players who main buffing classes in raiding guilds may well dwarf the complaint volume from the compass, map, and target-ring nerfs combined.
That said, EQ was a much different game with only one chat window. Not necessarily worse, but definitely different.
