Resists were changes for a balance issue, an issue that at the very root of pvp causes a problem, a universal problem too, not one that is only experienced by people who don't have a particular item. I have no problem pvping against people in AoN form. Bring a whole army of AoN people, no problem. I would have a problem with getting rooted and blinded @ 125MR. I still have a problem never being able to land Calefaction on people at almost any point in time. I resisted it myself with only 40FR. That is a serious mechanics issue, not a simple inconvenience of character model.
