there are 2 dif types of pvp. dueling is different than fighting for raid mobs. pallies i guess never die, but i don't think i've ever seen more than maybe two. their stuns don't land in pvp. they are good in velios as group-wide heals i guess. dex rangers will stomp casters in velios because of stun proc bow, but they're not worth if you don't have twink gear. best track in game though, and sortable. bard and druid don't get that. it's good for pvp and tracking named mobs.

essentially the idea is that casters dominate melee's that don't have resists and clickies. clickies are spammable junk buffs that you can use to cover your real buffs. magic resist will stop you from getting rooted, snared, stunned, blinded, etc. if you want to roll a melee you absolutely need resist gear, jboots, clickies, etc. rogues basically require an epic. a ranger could bridge the gap by having sow, but he'll still want jboots and clickies to pvp at all.

i would roll an ikky necro or a druid to start. the necro is best solo farm in game, so you can just solo decent drops all day. druid can farm some camps, but not like necro. druids can still farm until full and port to a bank to deposit. i personally rolled a druid first so i can farm gear for alts, pass gear between alts, and bring group members to alts. it's kind of a 'light at the end of the tunnel' approach, but so far i've twinked a few alts and the druid has paid for the time investment. alternatively, you can start a toon and just get into a guild. a good way to do this is to roll a cleric. it doesn't matter how bad your gear is, every guild wants a cleric, and every guild that legit needs a cleric will port you where ever and might even gear you if they think you will stick around.

What class are you thinking about?
