Welcome to EQ! Everfrost is one of the most unforgiving starting areas. If you need to (re)learn the ropes, it might be overwhelming.
The easiest starting areas for me are paineel (evil erudites), misty thicket, qeynos and freeport, followed by greater faydark and butcherblock.
But i would advice you to stick to your barb shaman and just learn the hard way. Nothing wrong with dying a lot at low levels where you still do not lose xp. You will learn very fast to respect the environment, knowledge that you will need anyway at higher levels. Also you will learn navigating in hard mode. Try to find one or two other lowbies, things get much easier if you stick together. Look out for those pesky solist skellies, they will kill you pretty fast.
If you feel that you need a change of scenery, try to get a SOW and make a run thru blackburrow, get a bind close to qeynos and hunt in qeynos hills or blackburrow. Way easier than everfrost, but not as "cool"
