Charming in the Ocean of Tears and two times, with two different NPCs, ultimately caused the NPCs run under the world and not resurface. It happened the first time when charm broke and Doran (dwarf merchant NPC) ran under the world. He never attacked me, but assume he still had agro. Second time, I charmed the High elf merchant on AC island and she ran under the world after having her attack a mob. However, she continued to follow pet commands as I got the response message. I broke charm again and despite being close, she never hit me.

On a separate issue, I was also unable to give my charmed pet any weapons. It just prompted the message to right click to begin a transaction.
