So chain casting pets as a Mage is the most effective way to kill hard mobs. Unfortunately once you start fighting mobs that summon this seems to be impossible.

Does anyone know any tricks to be able to chain cast pets against mobs that summon?

All I can think is you stay in melee range and try to dismiss your pet right after the mob attacks, hoping your summon finishes before the next round.
