Is there a guide to pros/cons of each faction and time to reach faction requirement?
Here's a quick and dirty guide.

Dwarf (Coldain) Faction: the armor sets are about equivalent to Plane of Growth armor. Kill giants with beards to raise Coldain. The quest pieces drop in Kael very plentifully, especially plate at the plate cycle house.

Dragon (Claws of Veeshan) Faction: Also very easy to raise in Kael. Maul stuff at the arena in Kael. Other options are in front of Kael in Wakening Lands, or kill misc Giants in Great Divide. The quest armor drops in East Temple of Veeshan, known more commonly as Halls of Testing (HoT) You'll need at least a small raid or a solid bank account. This armor set has more HP on most pieces.

Giant (Kromzek) Faction: kill all the dwarves and/or hunt in West Temple of Veeshan with a raid. These quest pieces drop in WToV or NToV and you'll need a raid or a solid bank account. This armor set generally has more AC on its pieces.

Most people just grind Kael and get ally to Dwarves and Dragons. The hardcore raid guilds are just KoS to everything / everyone. Only one guild that I'm aware of is on Giant faction, Divinity.
