Dear all:
In the light that there are too many nations using ambiguous date formats, and the Wiki mixes them, depending on who wrote the article, I would like to suggest that we all adhere to the ONLY international standard, which thanks to it's format alone is non-ambiguous:
ISO 8601
The format is simply
YYYY-MM-DD and can be easily distinguished from the European formats
DD/MM/YY
DD.MM.YY
and the US formats
M/D/YY
MM/DD/YY
M-D
...
As a bonus, ISO 8601 sorts in the same order both alphabetically and chronologically. That can help a lot if you ever use it in file names or Excel columns or whatever else...
It would be great if everyone could agree to this, and at the same time start updating articles that use a different date (in case of doubt: the edit history will allow you to identify what date the original editor meant)
Thanks!
