All of the replies are helpful and exactly what I did. I'm assuming OP is Masrak(might have misspelled) or the "B" named druid I had seen doing the quest while I was.
The a rancorous ghast spawns weren't too bad for me - It was more the drop rate. Definitely just keep running east and west across the western 3/4 of the zone while refreshing track and killing every skeleton, mummy, or other undead throughout the 12a-5a hours (times in which the current mobs would spawn/despawn/transform into undead analogs), though I can confirm that I saw a rogue a rancorous ghast at, like, 8pm a couple times, which I thought was strange. Also, I just did other things on other characters throughout the 6a-11p hours and switched to the druid for the nighttime hours and ended up with 5 hearts (one extra for MQ if possible).
