Cause there were a few options:
A. Join a guild that is DKP but will be raiding at 7AM on Wednesday every time an expansion launches. I have a job and can't make those raids so I wouldn't really be able to partake in the progression part of these servers. Came here to progress, not farm.
B. Join a loot council guild that knows what it's doing/is somewhat hardcore.
C. Join a DKP guild that is casual.
So I elected option B.
Seemed like a logical pick to me. I'm sure some of my guildmate nerds are taking off weeks of vacation to level up, but atleast they're not going to be posting 9:30 AM kills on a workday to claim server firsts.
That's really what killed me on EQLive. The progression races shifted from just besting/figuring out content fast to "who can log on at 5AM Tuesday when our lockout is up to beat this raid and acquire more keys". That's the game OGC and AoS play, I've got no interest in it. You do though, so have fun. The beauty of Phinigel.

I don't necessarily enjoy the 4am batphone raiding shit either. Why I gave up on my app to IB back in the day just wasn't for me. But I refuse to be part of a non-dkp guild and I wanted a guild that knew what they were doing and wasn't full of scrubs. AoS is significantly more neckbeardy than OGC from everything I gather. Way more raids and they batphone tons of shit that OGC doesn't even bother killing. OGC seemed like the best option to fit my criteria and I had already made a few friends here. So if I have to suffer through 1 week of insanity and raids morning noon and night then so be it. Its worth the trade-off.
