The point is in the third paragraph. Aligning oneself with either side is ill advised because both are detrimental to society. We can blame the rich for being greedy, uncaring, callous or downright evil. We can blame the poor for being lazy, stupid, whiney or downright worthless. We can attribute wealth to inequitable environments, luck or underhandedness. We can attribute poverty to oppression, lack of opportunity, or inequitable environments.

At the end of the day though the poor are poor and the rich are rich. Neither are good for society and it should come as no surprise that allocating resources to either will yield more of it.
