A lot of the armor I linked is a little heavy, which is okay when you are getting started, but obviously once weight becomes too much of an issue you will have to pick and choose.

A set of Mesh armor is pretty good, but you'll have to fill the foot slot with something else. There aren't many self-found magic foot options for monk. a burynai cutter drops one.

I've got a no-twink monk that I play time to time, he's level 28 now, but has most of this stuff, all looted, no EC buys and I think like 2.5k or so in the bank since I never spent any of it. If you need any pointers on how to camp some of this gear, I can help.

For monks, all it takes is a 100pp Wu's Quivering Staff to be badass until level 52, so if you want easy mode, buy one of those and just upgrade everything else as you go.
