Thanks for that, thats a great idea. There is a level 12 summon staff that might do the trick too.
I did read those wiki pages and when I summoned the pet it was white to my level 12 toon so I assumed it would be able to hit but was invulnerable.
I'll remember to summon weapons for it next time
