You can ask for your alts to also be made co-leaders...not sure what policy is on that, but if you want your alts in the guild then it's best to ask for that right away unless you plan on having officers invite them later.
You don't necessarily have to be online at the time, but staff prefers in-game petitions to form guilds. You can also be solo.
