Hey everyone,
I'm an old school Everquest player from long ago. I played a level 60 bard on Povar from 1999-2003 then wandered off to EQ2, WoW, Daoc and other games of the genre.
I have a lot of good memories of this game and when I found P1999 I decided to play it again. My game time is much less now with a wife, 2 kids and working, but I'm trying to play as much as I have time for.
I've got a level 5 Barbarian Shaman in Everfrost that I am really enjoying. I've got numerous stacks of spiderling silks and bone chips saved up hoping for a big pay day [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Glad to be here!

Welcome home!
Some tips in case you don't know or are not sure; save your Polar Bear Skins too, kill the cubs they drop them often! Someone told me they were selling these for 30-50pp.
HQ Bear Skins sell for 30pp too, which also drop off cubs.
Don't sell your spiderling silk stacks for less than 15pp each, and bone chips 10pp per stack.
If you want to further tailoring and make even more plats, throw 21 training/skill points into tailoring and then buy a sewing kit. Now start making Leather Padding which becomes trivial at 31 tailoring. Combine 2 spiderling silks to make silk thread, then combine 1 Low Quality pelts/skin with the silk thread to make Leather Padding. Each leather padding is worth 10pp (stack sells for 200pp).
If you like this idea, then you might as well work blacksmithing up so you can forge a Skinning Knife, which you can go to Wiki Tailoring and find how to work blacksmithing up to make a skinning knife. It's very easy. I also recommend sticking 21 skill points into blacksmithing just to avoid the lesser combines but it's cheap if you decide to do it manually. Once you make a Skinning Knife, this will let you break down Medium Quality animal pelts and skins into Low Quality Pelts/Skins that can then be used to make Leather Padding.
Otherwise, you will end up wasting the Low Quality and MQ Pelts/Skins, although some people will buy them but they do't stack and usually only sell for 2-3pp each at most to players. The good thing is players tend to sell LQ/MQ animal Pelts and Skins to vendors, so if you end up making leather padding you often can find these on vendors and buy them for cheap yourself to make loads of Leather Padding.
Maybe this is too much for you at this time, but when I started out new on P99 that's what I learned to do for the best plats as a lowbie. I ended up working my tailoring up to 80+ so I could also make Handmade Backpacks, which sell for 60pp each. They use the HQ Bear Skins btw.
I just found it more lucrative to make these lowbie craft items and then sell them, instead of just selling the minimal materials. People are lazy, and will buy your leather paddings for 200pp a stack which then are used for plate mail blacksmith crafting. They also rather buy a Backpack for 60pp instead of making it themselves.
Well. Good luck, and hope you find some of this useful.
