Simple fact:

When someone is shot here in Australia it makes local and national news.

Cop v robber
Robber v cop
Robber v homeowner/business owner
Etc.etc.

In America it's so prevalent that most gun crime isnt even reported in the news as it's just chalked up an every day event. This is what happens when you normalize brutal violence as acceptable behaviour or "just a byproduct" of excessive gun ownship.

I think from memory gun deaths are 26 times higher in the USA per 100k than Australia.

Most gun deaths in Australia are suicide too, like 60% of the 200ish gun deaths per year are plain old suicide. I think it's almost 200 people a day die to guns in the USA.
