True wizards are in demand, the reason might be is at low levels there's a real struggle to get a group with one. My wizard is 15 and can go a long time in Oasis trying to get a spot. Log my SK on, different story.
Its the way its always been, tanks in short supply... healers there seems to be a good number of, at low levels at least.
What everyone else said really, play what you enjoy or it won't last. If you enjoy healing red bars and sitting, play a healer. If you enjoy exploring and pulling, play a tank or a monk/bard. If everyone is scum and you don't want to group, play a necro
