How fresh is your eq titanium installation? (out of curiosity)
Sometimes zone files become corrupt for seemingly no reason.

Edit: Do a traceroute to the server and see if you have any bad hops.
Edit: EQ Options > Display > Dropdown menu on the top right corner "Loading Screen" change it from "Loading Art" to NONE
