I do this all the time. Haggling and negotiating is severely lacking from the EC game. This isn’t WoW there isn’t an AH and all prices are negotiable. If you want to spend 2 hours in EC to make that 20pp difference then that’s on you.

What OP is describing isn't haggling, that would require a back and forth. If you just open the trade window without comment, that's an unspoken agreement that the price I've stated is fair and that you agree to my terms. Trying to go underhanded and hoping they don't notice or fight you on it is predatory and slimy behavior.
