In your position, I'd recommend Necro or Druid.
Charming doesn't require a ring. I just recently learned how to charm kite on my druid like two days ago and I'm doing just fine without a ring.
The ring only makes things more convenient. At best it allows you to break charm when the mobs are at extremely low health. Which granted, is awesome, but not required.
You need a class that doesn't need a lot of gear, has a large diverse toolkit, group-friendly, and can solo?
