Besides the Karanites being more secure in their faith and devotion to the Norrathian Zeus, there are massive plains and their residents named in favor of the Stormlord.

While Karana does resemble Zeus (the original depiction to a lesser extent), the name itself likely comes from Antahkarana, a Sanskrit word in Hinduism which refers to a communication "bridge" between the middle mind and higher mind or, in more common terms, the personality and the soul. Which is interesting when one considers that the largest, most recognizable features of the Karanas are its bridges. And the Antahkarana symbol itself represents ancient healing and meditation and has the appearance of a storm system. So as a cleric, the deity ties in quite well, though arguably better for a druid or even a monk.
As for Rodcet Nife, the name is also an anagram for "rodent fice", with "fice" being a variant of "feist" meaning "mongrel" or "dog". It's a bit of a stretch and makes little sense considering the Prime Healer takes on the form of a fish, but then the entire Qeynos area is teeming with gnolls and rats.
