well if I was Republican president -- the lesson I would take from this is to do a tax plan where everyone who makes under 100K pays more all year and then gets a bigger return. Then you call it a tax cut while the Democrats run around with a calculator making the technocratic argument.
Poor people don't have some sheet a paper somewhere and balance their budgets out while investing the rest. They just disassociate from their poverty -- spend every last time they make when they get it (because its not enough anyway) and talk about how nice it would be to win the lottery.
The bulk money of tax returns is a much better deal than that extra 6 pack of beer a week or whatever.
It just proves how little thought was put into making that tax cut popular. Ryan knew what was up -- that's why he took off immediately after securing the Koch's tax break.
