Doesn't really make sense soloing. Ideally you want both mobs to die at around the same time. I suppose if your pet is weaker and you want the other mob to die faster and don't want to spam sit or throw on an extra nuke or 2 it's an option, but I never really felt the need.
On the other hand, if you're duoing with a cleric and you are having no mana problems, then I can see the benefit of keeping your pet DS if you feel like keeping up with it. Enchanter DS isn't great but still one of the most efficient spells in game in terms of damage per mana.
