My Green Shaman doesn't even have Cann 1 yet, so I guess I'm not the appropriate person to answer, but from my decades of playing a Shaman here and on live I'm pretty sure that unless you're in one of those situations where "oh shit the group is about to die unless I pull some mana out of my ass" ... (or until you get Torpor) ... you
always want to dance.
Whether you do it "blind" comes down to how much efficiency you want vs. how much effort you want to put in.
