For those having difficulties recording, if you have any recent Nvidia graphics card there is a feature called Shadowplay. You can configure this to automatically keep a rolling capture of 20 minutes of video in real time. Then, whenever something happens, you can press a key combination (default is Alt F10) to save it to a file. This way you won't miss anything at all and don't have to run another program in advance. You can also press Alt F9 to start and stop recording at any time.
