Now that we cleared that up I do have another question.
They use this term "people of color" in the HR trainings. You know that is linguistically the same as "colored people", while I do personally find the abbreviated "coloreds" derogatory. How is "POC" not a slur by these standards?

I would suppose is that "colored people" places the racial status of the person/people in question as above their status as people by referencing it first, whereas "people of color" considers them first as people, before any reference to race or ethnicity.
