This community is much better than it was in 1999!
I've been playing for about 2 weeks now, trying to get back some of those feelings that I haven't experienced since.
And I'm getting them. The immersion and connection is still there. The isolation, the feeling of elation when you scrape through a battle, the frustration when you run to the Gnome guards because an earth elemental is hammering you - only to discover the guards don't have magic swords and ignore them.
But this is much, much better. The community, though small, is fantastic. Everyone is kind, and gracious. Most of the people I've met so far just want the same thing as me - a bit of nostalgia but without the aggro (from mobs OR players). Tonight I made the daunting run to EC to sell some bone chips so I could buy my level 12 necro spells - and as soon as I auctioned them someone asked if i was new, told me he'd buy a stack - then gave me an awesome robe and 130 plat. So friendly, and I've had that experience every time I log on.
So thank you to the P99 team for recreating the feeling of classic EQ, and managing to improve on it.
