Marion/Atkins are worse... I was born and raised in that area... it's known as the area that the neighboring towns avoid like the plague.
And nah, it's not a made up story at all. There aren't many black kids in this town (you should know that), and I'm related to about 80% of them. Most people just viewed this as a random act of hate, but everyone locally knows that the man accused of burning a cross (again, it was two twigs, not really a cross) did this after his ex-girlfriend's son vandalized his vehicle. They live across the street from one another on a place known as Iron Street. It's the ghetto of the town, and if someone tells you they are going there, then you know they're going to get meth.
