Covid is already showing obvious signs of evolving to be more benign. Every variant thus far has followed the same pattern: It becomes more spreadable but less serious in terms of actual illness. And the *first* strain already had like a 99% survival rate for most people, and even a 90+ survival rate among the vulnerable.
It's just not the plague certain political groups are making it out to be. At the very beginning of the pandemic when images were coming out of china and italy that looked like a zombie movie, sure maybe our drastic response made sense then. We understand so much more about it now though, yet have barely altered our response at all.
