Just carry one of those space blankets around with you. They fold up super small and are just as effective while being much more portable than glass or cardboard:

mylar fabric is only gonna block your IR signature until it itself warms up, which is like 10-15 min, and if the weather is really cold out, the mylar won't do a damn thing. 50 degree items show like bright red sore thumbs against a 20 degree background on IR imaging.
the win against IR is much the same the win against visual sensory perception, your heat signature must blend into the surroundings like your visual signature.
Ideally if you can you put terrain features between yourself and any viewer, if you only have seconds or minutes, roll in the mud or dump your water on yourself.
