It was a cunning move. I think there are some real issues in making voting too easy though. We end up with people voting who normally wouldn’t even be willing to take an hour out of their year to vote.
Voting used to be for white male land owners, which of course has issues. But I don’t think the reasons for the discrimination were so sinister. I think it had more to do with our founders wanting an educated voter base that actually had something to lose and weren’t so easily swayed by false promises of grandeur.
Nonetheless, republicans will strategize now knowing that mail in voting is a bigger thing and we will be back to the same old shit, just different stink.

Every few years the Democrats come up with some harebrained scheme to win "the most important election of our lifetime!" then immediately fall apart and get crushed in the next one.
But it's not against the rules.
