Dgvoodoo2 translates the directx calls to a version that gets along better with newer OS's (and vid cards). To use it, you just put the dll files (for 3dfx) in your eq directory - you'll know it's working because when you next fire up the client you should see a dgvoodoo watermark in the corner (you can disable this via the dgvoodoo config utility it comes with, or just edit the ini file it creates). That's the extent of the installation - to remove it just delete the dll's you copied into your eq directory. You can tweak settings in the config utility, but to start just see if you notice any change.


Does it address the freezing issue? That I don't know, as I don't have that problem; I use it because it works with my old laptop trying to switch between integrated and discrete graphics. If you search these forums for dgvoodoo2 you'll see it pop up often so maybe someone else is more familiar with it.
