Uh hundreds of thousands of Tolkien fans don’t like the changing of his work for a woke agenda. What’s so wrong with having a British writer pick people who look like him from his country for a story?

If you want to make a story about black hobbits and dwarves, maybe even some black tree-folk, maybe try inventing your own instead of bastardizing someone’s work

Edit: or, if you want to make a movie about a beloved fantasy character AND force as many black actors into roles as you can in a way that fits the story, why not take up the gauntlet of making one about Drizzt Do’Urden, the dark elven ranger hero. If you pick the setting of Menzoberranzan you could have an entirely black cast, wouldn’t that be diverse
I give you Aragorn according to Wizards Of The Coast for Magic The Gathering:

“The folks at Middle-earth Enterprises take their roles as stewards very seriously, and every decision about characters has been made with deep reverence to the original,” wrote Wizards content manager Adam Styborski. “With that in mind, together we set out to make a set that follows two guiding principles: diversity and originality.”

“The goal of this set is to express the story and setting of The Lord of the Rings in cards for Magic: The Gathering,” noting that while “countless prior efforts have painted vivid pictures of this world, our goal is a modern take on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, lovingly crafted for a new generation of players and fans.”
When will this nonsense stop?
