Well there was the issue of Germany being entirely dependent on russian gas/oil, but a year later this is less important as Germany and EU have made enough of a shift away from those sources.
Germany, like Japan, has for the past 70 years kept quiet on military matters largely due to that little scuffle in the 1930s-40s, the world wouldnt have reacted well to a fully rearmed germany, prior to russian aggression anyway

Germany. German engineered military equipment often exceeds that which the US fields. (forget the G36) One example is that the German Leopard tank was designed in parallel with the US Abrams tank. and again, you gotta be cagey about what technology gets deployed in Ukraine, because it will invariably end up in a Chinese reverse engineering lab.
