very often yes, transactional.

you have 2 people, with similar desires who will usually take different routes to satisfy those needs.

the means by which each party has their needs met, is really just exclusive to those 2 people, no couple is the same.

but i do understand the sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship. I think for some people, that is the most honest relationship they can have with the opposite sex.

the idea of paying for sex is abhorrent to me personally, if i can't get laid based on my own looks and personality then i don't deserve to, and i really do enjoy sharing affections with a woman. most of us know that its a good feeling to know that someone likes you for who and what you are, rather than anything superficial.

things are pretty casual with the current gf (using gf for lack of better terms) but there's potential for something meaningful, not transactional.
