Just to clarify the issue: Instead of coding a proper backend solution, such as concurrent db transactions, they instead implemented a solution which punishes the player for simply the interacting with their game. Par for the course around here.

Tell us more about your EQemu coding prowess. How would you resolve this duplication issue?
Perhaps there is a complicated client issue causing a desync between client server that is difficult to fix and this is as good a solution as can be done for now.
