For me, Reddit wasn’t always about being nice. Reddit was a great place to argue and talk shit, I got a lot of my upvotes from arguments or smack talk, and I can’t recall anyone I was arguing with not getting downvoted into oblivion. Even some with left-leaning positions
I always picked targets who I felt had it coming tho. For some reason Reddit had stuff like rampant misogyny, which was one of the few positions that almost went unchallenged despite the platform being very leftist, just because of how many angry bitter lonely men (often in other countries) were backing each other up on really really stupid untrue positions about women. But even for me helping people and getting into enjoyable arguments wasn’t worth wading through all the misery. I hope this forum doesn’t die lol
