reminds me of something i saw about a plant communicating somehow to other plants of its species about being eaten and the other plants turning their leaves or fruit i forget what to taste bitter temporarily to persuade the animal to find something else to eat
and apparently lettuce lets out a ultrasonic scream when eaten
