Not sure that's really that dick of a move. By that standard, no guild should ever be able to engage a target if another guild wipes on it.
OP had to gate because they couldn't handle the kill in that instance. It's okay for another player to try their hand at that point. Sure, it's really nice of them to allow OP to have the camp back if they do that, but I also don't think it makes them a dick to not.

it indeed does make you a dick if you are waiting for someone else to do the work of clearing a camp, and then jumping in to kill the named if they fail.
raiding is not camping. i agree that in a raid, its different but then youre talking about dozens of players who want to win.
this is one dickhead ruining another players chill play time
