That is a totally opposite experience to the one I had playing EQ during that time. My experience was that people were overall helpful and friendly, with only the occasional encounter with a dickhead.

Yup. Maybe not giving away free items as much, but that's because the servers weren't mudflated yet.
People were very helpful overall. And RecondoJoe always makes these statements that there was mass griefing everywhere, which wasn't the case in my experience whether as a player or as CSR in era.
